Stumbling Block For BAM

BAM President said there may be a stumbling block in the prize structure in BAM, which will rewards players who maintain their higher ranking for longer period of time. Maybe he's very slow in realising this, but also now only do I know Malaysia actually has such reward systems.

Why Malaysia will set such stupid and ineffective rules. Does the ranking really reflect their standard or ability? Malaysia has long been proudly mentioning their WORLD NO 1s, DATUK Lee Chong wei, Koo Kian Keat - Tan Boon Heong and the once No 1 Wong Pei Tye - Chin Ei Hui. To me I don't rate them as No 1s simply because they do not possess the quality and skill to be No 1s.

They are No 1s just because they participated in more competition, accumulating more points than others. That's why they are No. 1s. Unless they can consistently win major tournaments, it will be pointless because they accumulated more points by participating more competitions.

Just look at China, Indonesia and Denmark, even Korea, they normally participating in those important and necessary tournaments which will give them a good runs out against a more calibre opponents, at the same time can judge their own, as well as their opponents' skill and level. What's the purpose of competing in a tournament with no classy players, where you will not be able to judge even yourself? It wil be a complete waste of time and money to participating in such tournaments.

Oh maybe Malaysia players know deepdown in themselve that they could not compete with top class players, and they will not accumulate enough points to get them into top rankings, so they decided to achieve the No 1 status by participating in more tournaments. Only those chicken players will do this, and I'm sure Malaysia is the only one!

Secondly, with such rewards, players would try to participating in more tournaments to collect more points in order to stay top, and collect prize money every quarterly. So when comes the major tournaments, they wouldn't care so much because they've collected more in their country than the prize money on offer. This has made the players with a wrong attitude when representing their country!

I noticed that Malaysian players do not feel proud representing their country partly because there's no huge rewards for them, as compare to when competing in individual competitions. The team morale is also very low when playing in a team events because players do not supporting each other. They are more willing to supporting their own pocket!

That's the Malaysian players' attitude, and unless this reward system is totally and completely abolished, Malaysia will never progress in any sports, especially Badminton. Like I said before, Malaysia will need to get rid of all current players to set up a new system for new and younger generation of players, train them from scratch and start phyco them from the very beginning!
